INDIVIDUAL THERAPY FOR TEENAGERS

Natalja works with teenagers from 12+ years. Sessions with younger children (8+ years) may be considered depending on the presenting problem and parents'/caregivers' commitment to be actively involved in therapy.

Mental health problems are common occurrences among children and teens, and sometimes life can bring challenges and struggles for both you and your child. Children and teenagers experience tough times and may feel sad, worried, stressed, angry, frustrated and overwhelmed. They don't quite know how to cope with intense emotions and difficult life situations, and they may struggle with relationships across different areas in their lives. Children & teens need help to learn and build coping skills, self-awareness, and to act in positive ways. If your child/teen is struggling with emotional or behavioural problems, they may benefit from mental health supports. Individual therapy can help your child reach their potential.

Natalja works with children & teens in collaboration with parents, schools and other supports. She has experience in managing complex childhood concerns.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY FOR ADULTS

Natalja works with all adults, and is experienced working with adults between 18 to 50 years of age.

One in five Australians aged 18-85 years will experience depression, anxiety or another mental health disorder in any given year. Others need help to cope with significant life events, such as a relationship breakdown, serious illness, death of a loved one, or job loss. Through psychotherapy, we help people to work through such problems and live happier, healthier, and more productive lives.

Psychotherapy provides a safe, compassionate, and confidential space for a person to explore their beliefs, emotions, and experiences. It allows you to talk openly with someone who is objective and non-judgmental. During the course of therapy, clients learn evidence-based ways of changing longstanding beliefs and behaviours that have hindered their wellbeing and satisfaction with life. Individual therapy enables clients to discuss in depth the problems they have been struggling with, gain a greater understanding of what’s holding them back, and learn how to set and achieve goals that bring greater fulfilment, meaning and life purpose.

Whether you’re facing difficulties with a past trauma, or recent significant event (e.g., Divorce/separation), life transition or finding direction and purpose in your life; Dr Nat is here to listen, and to help you to identify and change the thought and behaviour patterns that are preventing you from getting the most out of life and your relationships. Drawing on your personal strengths and values, you will develop effective strategies for managing feelings of stress, overcoming fears and insecurities, and achieving lasting improvements to your mental health. Psychotherapy can also assist you to clarify your personal goals, improve your relationships, or chart a new life direction.

IS PSYCHOTHERAPY RIGHT FOR MY CHILD OR MYSELF?

Some people seek psychotherapy because they or someone they care for have felt depressed, anxious, or angry for a long time. Others may have short-term challenges (e.g., divorce, job or other life challenges, grief and loss) they need help navigating.

Signs that you or someone in your care could benefit from individual psychotherapy include:

  • Feeling an overwhelming, prolonged sense of sadness.

  • Difficulty concentrating on work or carrying out other daily activities.

  • Worrying excessively, expecting the worst, or constantly feeling on edge.

  • Having recurring and distressing intrusive thoughts, and/or getting stuck in unhelpful habits.

  • Avoiding everyday situations or activities due to fear and insecurity.

  • Relying on alcohol or drugs to reduce stress or manage your mood.

  • Behaving in ways that are harming your relationships with others.

  • Feeling “stuck” or not in control of your life.
